2.0 STUDY AREAMasjid Wilayah Persekutuan or Federal Territory Mosque located next to Jalan Duta is one of the tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur. Opened to the public on October 25, 2000, construction of this mosque began in 1997. The architecture and interior design of the mosque is a blend of Malay and Middle Eastern traditions, with the overall concept influenced by the traditional Othmanian mosques of Turkey. Figure 1.1: Msoque Federal Territory, Jalan DutaThe mosque can accommodate up to 17,000 worshipers at a time with a total area of 47,000 square meters. Incorporating a beautiful landscape and mosque design with its surroundings and topographical conditions, it completes the concept of “Mosque in a Garden”. There are three gardens around the mosque; De Forest, De Flora/De Palma and De Ethno-Botanical.De Forest is a jungle garden which also serves as a buffer zone for the mosque. The tree species is native to the tropical rainforest of Malaysia and was planted along the road. For the De Flora or De Palma area, a collection of palm trees with diverse species, native and foreign, is planted nearby. A second entrance is decorated with an assortment of flowers in addition to a pedestrian walkway and a spacious area for recreation. Ethno-botanical garden, or also known as medical garden, is a garden where the crops planted are from herbs, medicines, spices and fragrant flowers. With the combination of the water element and the reflexology walkway, he added the healing element of the garden.
