    Situations that test our communities' views of right and wrong, or simply examining cultures with lifestyles very different from our own, give us (Americans) a feeling of isolation and ignorance in the face of problems that are not. involve our country or our tradition. Intolerance manifests itself wherever ignorance thrives, preventing us from examining global issues; those in which we, brothers and guardians of the same earth, should get involved for the better. Tolerance and intolerance is reflected in the theme of child brides in the fact that many countries choose to ignore the problem because it is not specifically occurring in their country. A child bride is defined as a person under the age of 18, usually forcibly married. . In many cases, this involves marrying people several times older than their age and through the “purchase” of a wife, more precisely a dowry. According to the ICRW, girls are usually unknowingly married off and sent to their new husband's village and forced to live with his husband's family. Shockingly, while most assume this culture persists in typically rural areas, statistics show that child marriage occurs on every continent and in countries around the world. Many cases have been recorded in which young girls are married and have been restricted during their childhood, have limited opportunity to go to school, have little interaction with their community and face major health risks due to to pregnancy. and early childbirth (Girl Up).
