    University of Kentucky guard Aaron Harrison made a contested 3-pointer with just 2.6 seconds left to beat No. 2 seed Michigan . The unexpected 75-72 victory took the No. 8 seed Kentucky Wildcats to the final four and was a win en route to the national championship game that they ended up losing. For Harrison's game winner, Kentucky's athletic director and basketball coaching staff earned $329,166 in bonuses. This money represents only a fraction of the revenue generated by the University of Kentucky throughout the tournament. These schools generate millions of dollars each year because they play in front of packed arenas on national television. The world of sports is very marketable and profitable, with some schools even earning more revenue than professional teams. While it may seem like Harrison individually won over $300,000, he didn't win the game single-handedly. His shooting was combined with long hours put in by everyone involved in the Kentucky athletics program. College athletes should not be paid because they are simply trading their talents for a free college education. Essentially, they are already paid because they receive everything provided to them. The experience of being a college athlete is similar to that of an internship at no cost to the athlete. They attend school for free, while enjoying the best accommodation at their respective schools and hone their skills with the help of coaches. College athletes also enjoy many material benefits, such as shoes and clothing.
