  • Essay / Thinking About Criminal Justice - 1303

    Frequently during this semester, I arranged interviews with students who were working on an assignment that required them to interview a former law enforcement officer and obtain a police officer's perspective on certain assigned topics. I received applications from graduate students and wanted to use myself as a reference for potential jobs. I am currently a member of the CART committee which oversees the security aspect of the college. Additionally, I worked with the human resources department by serving on the interview committee. These interviews involved certified officers who would be assigned to one of the college's four counties and provide security. I interact regularly with my supervisor and keep him informed of any issues requiring his attention. I realize that I should not consult him on insignificant details because his time is important. I continue to provide students with the names of agencies that are looking for viable candidates to recruit to the community college for full-time employment. Finally, as I teach, I use current events to show students how they interact with the concepts mentioned in the textbook. I find that by doing so, I reinforce the learning, while engaging the class in the critical thinking skills of
