  • Essay / Nature versus Nurture Debate - 829

Genes or life experiences? What determines who you really are? The nature versus nurture debate is one of the most popular debates in history. He questions whether genetics is what decides who you are or whether it is life experiences that influence your characteristics and qualities. Did you get this good humor from your mother? Or is it simply there due to the influences of the environment you grew up in? A fairly broad selection of characteristics has been discussed in this type of debate: personality, homosexual or heterosexual, political orientation, intelligence and even likelihood of being involved in acts of violence. On the “nature” side, it is believed that everything about us is already in our genes, and in some cases it is obvious that it is entirely due to genetics, such as physical characteristics and hereditary health conditions. In opposition to this we have the "nurture" half, it not only includes the love and care that children receive from the people by whom they were raised, but, in the modern debate, environmental factors - such as someone's childhood friends, the surrounding culture. , technology-related events, and even experiences in the womb are included. From my personal perspective, I believe there are certain aspects to both arguments that prove equality in both nature and nurture. Leaving aside all the homophobic controversy that comes with homosexuality, do you think it's possible to be born gay? -or directly- gene or is it a question of choice? Psychologists Anthony Bogaert carried out research in previous years and came to the conclusion that men who had biologically older brothers were more likely to be homosexual. So this suggests that nature is the cause of homos... middle of paper ... transformed into anything. Which side do I believe in? I believe, like most people, that there is a happy medium. I believe that some people are born to be homosexual, just as much as I believe that little Albert was influenced by fear. I don't think there will ever be anyone who says that everything depends on nature or nurture. I believe there is enough evidence of equality for both sides of the argument.
