Luke runs on the ground, closely followed by a stalker. He feels his disciple's warm, heavy breath on his neck and can see his tall shadow looming before him. He tries to move faster to escape, dodging and zigzagging, but can't shake him off; he is with him every step of the way. There is no escape. A call from a friend is a huge relief; Luke was saved. He passes the ball to his teammate and continues running towards the goal. Ryley lines up toward the goal about forty yards away and, with a superbly executed punt, sends the ball through the goal posts. He scored the first goal of the 2005 premiership season and put the Falcons six points ahead, just three minutes into the first quarter. The crowd burst into applause and began chanting “Hawks, Hawks!” » Luke knew this season would be much better than the last. This year he won't be injured and critics have already rated him one of the best late-season players. The Falcons were also tipped to finish in the top four this year, even though they didn't have a full coaching staff. The match continued with a rebound from the referee in the center of the oval. The ruckmen square off, battling against each other to get the punch needed for an escape from the center. The ball falls to the ground and is immediately smothered by desperate players trying to help their team. The referee whistles and signals another rebound. Once again the ruckmen battle against each other, but this time the ball is thrown forward. Luke jumps high into the air to grab the soccer ball, but crashes and lands awkwardly, with the other players falling in a pile on top of him. Everyone quickly gets up and chases the group of players following the ball. Luke remains lying on the ground, curled up in excruciating pain, holding his knee. The Falcon team runners come running onto the field to treat the injured player and signal him to the stretcher. Luke stands up, ignoring the stretcher, and is helped off the ground by two trainers. He is transported to the club rooms, where a physiotherapist attempts to identify the severity of the injury..
