Essay / Sales Promotions - 649
In advertising efforts, creating good public relations, and carrying out one's own personal sales efforts, companies sometimes add complementary activities. These activities are called sales promotions, and in a B2B context they are called trade promotions. Sales promotions are sort of temporary things, sort of incentives for customers to act quickly. We will mainly focus on the B2C context, that is to say sales promotion, in the context of Burkina Faso, using three types of sales promotion: sampling, competitions and loyalty programs. We will then see if sales promotion infrastructures exist in all countries. In Burkina Faso, as in many other countries, companies use many sales promotions to encourage customers to buy more of their products. One of these sales promotions is samples. This type of promotion is new in the country. Usually we have mobile sellers (people who don't sell in a store, but go to customers' homes), and they go from house to house. Other salespeople go from bar to bar or club to club, or any place they know they will find customers. They sell products like toothpaste, kitchen utensils and clothing. What makes them popular is that “buy two, get one more”. When they get to homes, people always buy more and get extra. This extra is a sample of the purchased product, but before you get it you need to purchase the product. This sample sales promotion is very popular in the country. Competition sales promotions are also very popular in Burkina Faso. October is the start of the school year in the country, making September to October a good business time for bookstores. Of course, there are a lot of them, so some of them use sales promotions to attract customers... in the middle of the paper line, it's already expired so they don't benefit from it. This is a kind of customer behavior. Overall, there are things to improve for better sales promotions in countries. In conclusion, there are sales promotions used by companies in every country. For Burkina Faso, the most popular programs are sample, contest and loyalty programs. Companies that know how to use them really attract many customers and of course achieve high sales. This inspires other companies trying to jump in on the trend. However, in all countries not all the necessary infrastructure exists for sales promotion, which is why new environments need to be created for this purpose. But maybe some companies are getting creative enough and trying to adapt existing infrastructure to their plans and programs.
