Why would Satrapi do this? She presents her illustrations this way because it allows the reader to believe more in the characters and let themselves be enveloped by the story. Moving forward, looking closely at the sails in the panel above, we can see that they are much more than just a prop appearing on the page. The veil draws the audience to her features and expression, allowing access to her inner features. The power of illustration and what you allow to be shown or kept to yourself is
