Essay / How the concept of diversity is growing with globalization
IntroductionDiversity is generally defined as the recognition, understanding, acceptance, valuing and celebration of differences among people with respect to age, social class, ethnicity, gender, physical and mental abilities, race, sexual orientation. , spiritual practice, and public assistance status (Etsy, et al. 1995). The idea of diversity emerged when globalization came into the picture in 1990-91 (Bhatia, 2008). As globalization began to affect organizations, workplaces from varied countries, cultures, values and styles presented enormous opportunities but also formidable challenges (Bhatia, 2008). Organizations can lead the market if effective human resources are in place. Today, in the 21st century, embracing diversity is not an option but a necessity. With all the talent available, businesses can no longer afford to restrict their ability to recruit talented employees due to differences that don't suit the business. Fortunately, organizations are becoming more comfortable with diversity. An organization is generally considered to have a diverse workforce; different races and ethnicities, genders, people with disabilities, gays and lesbians, elderly people and people who are significantly overweight. Even though they work together, each of them maintains their distinct characteristics, lifestyle and identity. It is necessary for today's managers to have the necessary knowledge to live with this cultural diversity in the office. If diversity in an organization is managed correctly, it can make a company flourish very quickly because of all the raw and fresh ideas, different perspectives and an increase in innovation and creativity that could not be achieved without such diversity..... .. middle of paper ...... and correctly, it will enable smooth communication and can eventually bring great value to the business. To solve most problems related to diversity management, it will be easier for companies to start with a diverse group than for companies that do not, because once a culture is formed in an organization, it will be difficult to break it. .ReferencesBaltzan, P., 2011.
