Some main components of classic Hollywood style are used by many different components, continuity being one of them. The main goal of continuity in Casablanca is to alleviate the disconnection of the editing process. The edits are cut seamlessly and designed to move the eyes from one image to the next without the audience knowing. For example, when the camera shows us the scene's setting, the scene flows smoothly through Ricks Café. Each shot has a meaning for the one who following the montage lets us know everything that is happening, ending with Rick who we know has a lot of meaning for Casablanca. Secondly, the 3-point lighting system has a great effect on Casablanca filming, it complements the background lighting and eyes. Dark film noir is also used in several scenes in this film. During many scenes with Rick, half of his face is shown in the light while the other half is in shadow. This has an effect on Casablanca by setting the mood for many different scenes. The lighting on Ilsa's face is normally close-ups where the light is very bright and her skin is almost glowing. Finally, the fluidity of the filming plays a big role in the film.
