  • Essay / Bumper boat fiasco - 1259

Bumper boats are stupid. At least that's what I thought. A complete waste of time and money. Seriously, who wants to ride around in a poorly constructed piece of junk surrounded by rubber for clueless little kids? These were my thoughts until one of the strangest and most hilarious events happened a few summers ago. Then my opinion on bumper boats immediately changed. It was the summer of 2006, late July, after my sixth grade year at Harrold Middle School. My parents surprised my brothers and I by telling us that our family, including my grandparents and aunt, would be traveling to Cook Forest in Clarion, Pennsylvania. We had been to the beautiful Cook Forest National Park several times before. In previous years we have experienced great weather, great water conditions and lots of family fun. Our plan last year included tubing for several miles on the Clarion River each day, a family hike, dinner at the Farmer's Inn, and a crazy round of golf. In previous years we have also included go-karts in our program. . One year, my brother, my cousin and I even tried the bumper boats at the recreation center. They weren't anything spectacular but were fine. We are a smart family, we were dressed in cute "dinner" clothes, cute khaki pants or shorts and fancy shirts, when we arrived at the Family Fun Center. As I got out of the car, I heard the midnight roar and whir of black karts, fueling my adrenaline. Water from the wacky golf course flowed through the stones, past a family of golfers lined up on hole number fourteen. The bright summer sun shone on the water of the bumper boat pool, creating a watery reflection on the employees' faces. My cousin and I ran forward towards the middle of paper......lose the pool, and all the fountains stopped flowing. Finally, the boat slowly slid to the surface of the water and my terrified family ran to the side to get out as quickly as possible. (I was the last one out because my engine had died). The employees were left speechless. One of the employees was so impressed by the previous chaos that he almost forgot to open the door and allow us to escape the horror of the bumper boats. Today our family likes to announce, "We completely destroyed this place!" They would probably recognize us and never let us come back! » As the theme of this story, bumper boats will exceed your expectations. These so-called “harmless” vehicles can suddenly transform into machines of death. To our great surprise, the employees allowed us to return last year where we, once again, angered the bumper boats. I guess we never learn.
