The short story focuses on the concern about marriage. The author accurately presents married life from the woman's point of view. Through writing, Chopin presents his own point of view, his own feelings about life at the end of the 19th century. Realism is defined as a revolt against romanticism. Mrs. Mallard is anything but romantic. Even after learning of her husband's death, she is consumed by her own dreams and desires. The themes really fit this particular literature
