Essay / Review by Mary Sherry "In Praise of the F Word"
Sherry used the rhetorical strategy of emotional appeal of pathos when talking about her son's problems at school, transferring a sense of emotion to the reader. Additionally, Carl Singleton, in his article "What Our Education System Needs is More F's", discusses how the grading system is diminishing in many ways and how teachers are not failing students when 'They deserved to fail. Most students don't care about what they will get as their final grade these days, but when graduation days approach, they start worrying about working hard on future assignments, tests and even overdue homework. I would like to say that if we want to have a better country, we must first make education the main problem of the country and start working on the education of students as soon as they start their studies in primary school. We must advise parents to motivate their children and protest to the government to give the necessary money to public schools, because in this way we can promise and protest equality of education for all students in the country of the United States of America.
