Pregnancies are considered something extremely special in many people's lives. When new mothers discover the little bit of happiness growing furiously inside them, happiness is something they surely find. But what happens when that happy moment isn't? More than half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and about four in ten of them end in abortion. (Jones) That's four out of ten babies who never see the light of day. And that's not counting illegal or accidental abortions that also occur in the United States. All this happens because of a decision that is far from simple, that of life or death. This decision is ultimately up to the mother carrying the baby, except for the few states that have laws stating that a parental guardian must agree if the mother-to-be is a minor. But this decision should never be taken lightly. Abortion has become well known and is sure to spark an argument between two people who disagree. It has also become a very controversial topic. This medical procedure has been around for a long time and has essentially evolved with society and advanced technologies. Simply put, an abortion is the termination of the pregnancy so that it does not result in the birth of a child. (BPAS) This ongoing quarrel over abortion has many sides, giving rise to many different points of view. Abortion should be made illegal because it is inhumane, except for the risk to the mother or baby. When talking about abortion, many things may come to mind, such as ethical reasonings, religious views, issues and risks, assumptions and options. The many issues make it a very hot topic that everyone has an opinion on.
