Marcus Brutus: A noble senator who kills his friend just because of power. Julius Caesar: A dictator who just wants more power. Caius Cassius: A jealous senator who is willing to manipulate Brutus into assassinating Caesar. William Shakespeare, in his play Julius Caesar, showed how the acquisition of power can lead to the jealousy of others through murder and war. Julius Caesar's noblest Roman was Marcus Brutus. Brutus was a noble senator. However, he became involved in the conspirators against Julius Caesar. “Well, Brutus, thou art noble / Yet I see thy honorable courage may be developed / From this is sport” (I.ii.308-309). He was beginning to think that Caesar was gaining too much power for Rome. Even though Brutus began to think differently of Caesar, Caesar still trusted him because he was noble. Cassius manipulated Brutus into opposing Caesar. Caesar knew nothing of the senators' hatred. “Caesar bears me hard, but he loves Brutus” (I.ii.313). Cassius knew that Caesar didn't trust him, so they could bring in Brutus and try to involve him in the matter....
