Essay / Examples of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Malpractice
The Ultimate BetrayalDoctors commit medical malpractice on a daily basis all over the world. One way or another, trusted doctors and nurses give the patient wrong treatment, which is usually harmful. The psychiatric hospital in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a perfect example of medical malpractice because the nurses mistreat patients in many ways. In the novel, Ken Kesey talks about a rebellious Randle McMurphy who is transferred to the ward. Shortly after his arrival, he animates the patients and convinces them to revolt against the irresistible Nurse Ratched. Together, he and his new companions disturb the peace of the parish. Throughout the story, it is clear that patients are not receiving proper medical treatment. As punishment, patients receive traumatic electroshock treatment and unnecessary surgeries. It is insane that in our society, health professionals can abuse their knowledge and power to harm their fellow citizens. There is no excuse for mistreating a patient; It is the duty of a healthcare professional to take care of patients. In some cases, doctors make mistakes which in turn lead to accidental malpractice. Sometimes unintentional incidents occur. Personal gain, apathy and negligence of doctors make malpractice senseless. In most cases, doctors have something to gain by abusing their power. It's just crazy how much of a doctor's only job is to help people who are in poor health, but some doctors agree. Patients take advantage of this privilege and trust doctors. Breaking that trust is the ultimate betrayal..
