Women are forced to wear a uniform to know who is, what is the difference between them. Each color represents something like blue represents stability as to the woman they were married to into royalty, green represents freshness as to Martha, they clean and keep everything fresh, blue and green combine as to loyalty and cleanliness for the Econowives they clean and/or those of their wives, brown for aunts because they truly teach the Handmaid how to be, and Red for sin or danger for Handmaids, they are not raped because they are married and are simply used. “The Handmaid’s Tale” is a novel that featured women who were single or whose marriages were considered void. So it is intended to have babies for married couples whose wives cannot have babies, and if the women manage to have healthy babies within three years. the postings there are safe and otherwise they are sent to the colonies to die handling toxic waste (Banerjee). Due to the countless number of humans left to survive, the Republic of Gilead has earned the right to demand that all fertile females become part of the Handmaiden so that in the future, the human race will still be around.
