  • Essay / Hello My Love by Evy Journey Book Review

I loved the premise of Hello My Love by Evy Journey before I started reading it. True friendship turns into true love. Initially, Greg (our hero) just wanted to add another conquest to his list. He sees Elise (our heroine) on television defending workers' rights. He instantly falls into desire. A month passes and he finally meets Elise in her father's office at a university. Elise only sees him as a playboy and tries to avoid him as much as possible. After numerous dinners at Elise's parents' house, Greg makes a comment on a book she was reading and a friendship develops between the two. Eventually, both feel an attraction towards each other but are unsure how the other will react. A year later, on the Friday evening before his impending nuptials to another woman, Lori, Greg and Elise make love. Greg confesses his feelings to Elise before falling asleep. He wakes up to find her gone the next morning. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on “Why Violent Video Games Should Not Be Banned”? It takes him two years to contact her, and everything seems to fall into place despite the new changes in their lives. They run into trouble when Elise is involved in an accident. The journey to discover why the accident happened puts a strain on their romantic relationship. Will they overcome life's obstacles or will they separate? You'll have to read to find out. Now here is the reason why I gave this book only 2 stars out of 4. As a reader, you should feel what the heroine/hero feels throughout the book. I didn't do it. The writing was dry and the emotion just wasn't evoked in me. There was a lot of comma splicing and misuse of commas throughout the book. These issues made it more difficult for me to read the text as it was written. Another area that bothered me was abrupt stops. Just a few examples include the night Greg and Elise consummated their love and when they reunited. Each scene ends and you find out later in the book what happened or what was said. I didn't like the no-resolution build until much later and even then, not fully explained. Finally, I didn't like the time gaps with little explanation. I would have liked to see what everyone went through during that two year period that they were apart. Keep in mind: this is just a sample. Get a personalized article from our expert writers now. After all, that's why we read romance novels. Ms. Journey is very intelligent. This is reflected in his writing, clear and concise. I respect his writing style, but it could be better. I will watch and read her future novels in hopes that she will improve. She has the ability to tell a story but doesn't have the emotional response I was hoping to find. I hope that the next time I read one of his novels, I can give it my full approval. She is definitely an author to watch evolve as she gains experience...
