Are the Common Core State Standards good for our schools? Common Core standards are increasing every year, and students, parents, and even teachers are not the best pleased with these changes. The standards have changed so much that a child can take up to 6 tests per day! This begs the question: why do we still use Common Core today if it is so bad? Well, we don't really know, it's a debatable topic, but there are reasons why we should get rid of this education system. 5th graders are getting a somewhat higher amount of work than the average they once did before the Common Core Standards increased, it's not just the amount they're getting, it's the work which is given there. If a student wants help from their parents, they may not even understand it! Common core can use complex and overly sophisticated methods. This infuriates everyone, not just the students, but also the parents and teachers! Students get angry because of bad grades, parents get angry because they can't help their children, teachers get angry because they might not even know how to teach! The new standards can give students anxiety and a lack of sleep due to the crazy amount of things they have to do each night! These conditions can also be harmful to your mental and physical health.
