The Death Penalty in the United StatesCapital punishment allows the victim's family to gain a greater sense of security, ensuring that the criminal can be punished at length highest degree for his crime. , and honor the retribution. The issue of capital punishment has created division and tension in our country. The controversy in our society is whether the death penalty/capital punishment constitutes a justified form of punishment. Justice can be served by imposing the death penalty for murder. Serial killers are the most heinous individuals in our society. They will no longer be able to terrorize innocent people (Religious Tolerance). Thus, the death penalty guarantees that there will be no next victim of this murderer. This is certainly one of the reasons why the death penalty remains an effective deterrent for murderers and those who commit other heinous crimes, regardless of the arguments put forward by those who confront this issue. The punishment for murder appears to become less severe over time. . Crime is endemic and out of control. There must be a system to prevent these people from committing such serious acts (Balanced Policy). Time spent in prison is often a way to stop some of them; but much remains to be done to prevent recurrence. In certain legal cases, prosecutors and judges should be able to use a wide range of sanctions that can reduce the crime rate (Balanced Policy). A judge could sentence a person to life in prison; but the criminal justice system can release that same person after ten or fifteen years in prison. Why should we trust a justice system that will allow these heinous offenders to be released from society after ten or fifteen years in prison (death penalty).
