    Many people may not realize that the majority of products they use in their home have been tested on animals; from lipstick and shampoo to dish soap and foot powder. Even the white ink in an M&M has been tested on animals. For some this statement may be alarming or even worrying, for others it may not mean much. Regardless, the debate over animal testing has gained popularity in recent decades. Animal testing has been carried out since at least 500 BC; even Aristotle experimented on animals for the purposes of scientific reasoning. Around 200 AD, public dissection of animals was actually used as a form of entertainment: people would go see someone perform vivisection on an animal. Vivisection is when an organism is dissected while it is still alive (“Animal Testing”). Public opposition to animal testing only began in the 19th century, when more and more people began adopting pets. In 1875, the first group aimed at protecting animals from testing was formed, called the Society for the Protection of Animals Susceptible to Vivisection (“Animal Testing”). Throughout the 20th century, companies began testing products on animals before they were released to the market. walk. Only in recent years has scientific evidence revealed that animals feel much more pain than originally believed. Unfortunately, the heartbreaking cries of animals weren't convincing enough for scientists in the past. This is where the controversy over animal testing begins (Scott). Animal testing is unnecessary, inhumane and unreliable. There are many advantages and disadvantages to animal testing, but there are usually more disadvantages than advantages. Animal testing is not necessary. Some people who are in the middle of paper are taking money out of the pockets of these companies and scientists. It's important to be informed about this because people make decisions every day and don't. realize that they support animal testing by purchasing these products. Everyone is involved, either because they support it by buying these products or because they don't support it by not buying these products.
