Essay / Persuasive Essay on Climate Change - 633
Even though the reason for climate change may be due to natural cycles, we humans are the main determinant. The enormous amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing climate change and this amount is increasing day by day, due to our actions. Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, typically absorb and release heat from the atmosphere to keep Earth's climate habitable. However, as we continue to burn fossil fuels, the temperature of this habitable Earth will explode and as a result, some species will become extinct due to various problems caused by climate change. According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the most obvious consequence of climate change is sea level rise, which will make certain coastal habitats unavailable for the life of its species. Nowadays we can see many campaigns aimed at reducing this human pollution. 'contribution of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The missions of these campaigns generally aim to reduce the energy we use, to convince us to use recyclable energy, to stop deforestation... These missions all aim to mitigate climate change. Climate change mitigation refers to actions aimed at limiting the significant rate of climate change in the long term. In other words, climate change mitigation brings together all actions aimed at reducing the human contribution to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It is now too late for humans to prevent the effects of climate change, but these effects can be reduced in the future through mitigation measures. The most popular treaty, disenchanting with humanity, is the Kyoto Protocol. The main goal of the Kyoto Protocol is to reduce human-emitted greenhouse gases, in other words, mitigation. Also in a way that underlies national differences in GHG emissions, wealth and ability to make...... middle of paper ...... problem on a global scale because that most third world countries cannot afford adaptation to climate change. Furthermore, according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), mitigation is based on the idea that we need to slow down economic growth (OECD, 2008). It will therefore be very difficult to combine adaptation and economic slowdown. But this is not impossible if governments come together and help each other. An example of this is that Western countries pay other countries like India and China to reduce their carbon emissions. Furthermore, economist Richard Tol states this in his own words: "We take money away from poor countries and give it to poor countries, but rather than spending it on development that is important to them, we spend it on an issue like climate change that is important to us. (Tol, Climate Economics).
