    Did you know that there are approximately 550,000 male high school basketball players, 15,000 are good enough to be able to play college basketball, a third of that figure or 5,000 plays well enough to get there. to Division I, which is the highest in the NCAA basketball league, and only about 348 play a game in the NBA. On the other hand, there are rare cases of players with extraordinary talents going straight from high school basketball to the NBA without any college experience. The debate on this topic is twofold, the first being that the jump from high school to the NBA should not be allowed and the second being that they should be able to do whatever they want. Those who believe that the transition from high school to the NBA should not be allowed have various reasons to believe. The first being that players are not physically or emotionally ready for this drastic jump. Players might be constantly harassed and receive a lot of criticism about how they play or what they did wrong while playing. Physically, they aren't ready because the other players are much bigger, stronger and faster, that could lead to an early injury or career ending, as well as the long road trips and playing back-to-back games night after night. They are not emotionally ready because while they may not be able to handle the pressure on or off the field, they may become afraid and fall into a slump and never recover. One way to solve all of these problems is to not recruit players out of high school, but simply recruit players out of college.
