    This report focuses on the manufacturing processes involved in the manufacturing of crankshafts at the Bharat Forge. The two main manufacturing processes used in the company to make crankshafts are forging and machining. The function of a crankshaft is to convert reciprocating linear motion of the piston into rotational motion. The basic parts of a crankshaft are the shaft, crank pin and counterweights. The crankshaft is usually made of steel. Monolithic crankshafts are produced in one piece at the company. When customers place orders with the company, the details and specifications of the crankshafts are passed to the company's production and planning department. This department then takes the help of the design department of Bharat Forge to make the respective dies according to the specifications of the clients. Open die forging and closed die forging are used in the company for the production of monolithic crankshafts.
