  • Essay / Industrial Agriculture Essay - 1215

Industrial agriculture seems to be the best solution for food distribution due to the high demand for meats, dairy products, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. Industrial agriculture is unethical and the food produced is certainly not the healthiest for our society. Factory farming is a modern agricultural practice that involves mass producing animals to meet human food consumption. Factory farms have large numbers of animals to raise for food in limited farm space to reduce operating costs, and mass production drives down food prices because they could produce a surplus of animals to meet demand. However, aside from providing humans with an abundant supply of cheaper food, industrial agriculture is an agricultural practice that is unhealthy for both humans and the environment. Factory farming has contributed to serious pollution problems, animal treatment is cruel, and has limited the business opportunities of traditional farms and their workers by occupying their markets. This is why I strongly support banning factory farming. First of all, factory farming creates a lot of pollution in our environment. Producing livestock in large quantities would require many resources and at the same time produce a lot of waste. When waste is disposed of at the same time, the high concentration of waste could harm the environment. Many forests are vacant for the construction of industrial farms, the soil is in poor condition and is no longer fertile. The nearby water source is contaminated with waste which makes the water smell horrible. The earth will no longer be habitable. Factory farms regulate American food production, employing uncivil practices that maximize agribusiness profits at the expense of the environment, our communities, animal welfare,...... middle of paper .... ..mistreating workers could not bring any benefit to the company. The exploitation of workers has given factory farms a bad name, with more and more people speaking out to criticize them and even oppose the factory farming industry. In summary, factory farming is not an acceptable agricultural practice because it causes serious pollution problems. having no moral conscience regarding the treatment of animals, threatened traditional agricultural businesses and exploited their workers. If the company's wealth came from pollution of the common environment, unnecessary inhumane treatment of animals, and exploitation of its workers, it would never be a morally righteous company and it does not deserve our support. When we consume food from factory farms, we are simultaneously consuming the cruelty behind the industry. In fact, we could replace factory farming with other alternatives at any time..
