Diverse, close-knit teams can make more creative decisions that allow a business to reach a broader customer base. By creating an inclusive culture where employees respect each person's unique differences, an organization expands its opportunities to serve its customers more effectively. When consumers feel represented and valued by an organization, they are attracted to it and are more likely to be loyal to that company. This increases the organization's bottom line and ensures a positive presence within its community. (Page 147 Leveraging Diversity) An inclusive and supportive organizational culture will have positive financial results. The money saved from cost reductions and improved HR ROI can be significant. In addition to reduced turnover, satisfied employees are more committed to staying with an organization. Their satisfaction translates into productivity in interacting with customers and providing a positive customer experience. (Conference board p. 8) Customer satisfaction can actually translate into a major revenue stream. Word of mouth, referrals, and support/maintenance purchases add up to a significant amount of after-sales dollars. General Motors once determined that a $50,000 Cadillac purchase could easily bring in $500,000, based on satisfied customers.
