Essay / Global water crisis - 593
What is water for us? Water is a natural resource on Earth. Water is also essential for our life, like water can solve our thirst problem, water can make us survive, water can cleanse our body, water can recharge our fatigue and water can revitalize our skin.According to a scientific survey, 70% of our body mass is water. Therefore, water is very important to us and should be global.Barkin, author of “The Mexico Water Crisis, a myriad of faces” declares. “Today, many poor communities not only lack regular services, but also have no access to any water supply fit for human consumption. » Today, it is difficult for them to get fresh water without having to make a long journey (Barkin). This is why it is very important for us humans to understand what is happening and how we can all help each other before it is too late. Using too much water causes future harm to people around the world. According to Coles, author of “The Growing Water Crisis,” “if current water trends and policies deteriorate, we can expect the situation to become much worse, with total global water consumption 13 % higher by 2025 than it is today. Food prices can be expected to almost double and global grain production in 2025 will be 270 million tonnes lower than it would be if a sustainable water use policy was adopted. (Coles). If the food crisis doubles, there could be an economic crisis. Many people cannot afford to buy food at the current price and, by increasing it, they risk starving. This could lead to an increase in crime and violence. If we let water consumption increase, we won't have enough. McCarthy, author of “The World Bank Predicts the Water Crisis,” says: “Today. One billion people living in developing countries do not have access to safe, clean water. The result is that about 10 million...... middle of paper...... water but not all water is clean or fresh. Almost all water comes from the oceans and those oceans feed some of the animals that we still have today, but we have realized that we are running out of fresh water and we have no plan to get fresh water again. fresh water. That's why we need everyone's help to understand what's really happening and this way we won't experience bad things in the future, like running out of fresh water. Another thing to keep in mind is companies that own water because water should be free and not owned by anyone and this way we have to buy water. Works Cited The Cove. Real. Louie Psihoyos. Perf.
