    Even though I too believe that people should be better informed, that doesn't take away from the fact that ultimately it's up to them to properly care for their own bodies. Fast food is not an animated object, nor does it threaten or pressure anyone to indulge in it. The people who run these franchises advertise, but they don't physically force people to invest in fast food products. This is a personal choice that has certain consequences. Instead of blaming the fast food industries, citizens should take responsibility for their own actions. Balko says it best when he says, “It’s hard to imagine anything more private and less public than what we choose to put in our bodies.” It only becomes a public matter when we force the public to pay for the consequences of those choices” (468). If people are so concerned about their health, they can conduct their own nutritional research. They may not be able to find any information about fast food, but there is plenty of information about other foods and their nutritional and calorie information. After doing some research online or at local libraries, people can simply choose the food choices that work best for their body. Some websites I have found helpful are www.precisionnutrition.com and www.choosemyplate.gov. These websites are designed to inform readers of
