“I think a lot of kids feel alone and slightly isolated and in their own world,” said Tim Burton, a renowned director. Burton himself often felt excluded and admits to his isolation, which motivated some of his many films. Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big Fish all showcase Tim Burton's style very well. Burton's dark yet humorous style that evokes a lot of emotion places his films in a unique film genre. His films are notable for his ability to use cinematic techniques effectively. Burton uses flashbacks and close-ups to make the viewer feel a certain way. Burton's prominent use of flashback contributes to his unique style and goal, to make the viewer feel a particular emotion. As seen in Edward Scissorhands, Edward has a flashback to when his "creator" was going to replace his hands with prosthetic hands.
