As much as we would like to think that we have finally achieved equality for all, that is not the case. How to Tame a Wild Language depicts the different ways in which our society remains discriminatory. The American community, for example, continues to believe that it is superior. As a result, it imposes its culture, beliefs and language on immigrants and other countries. Throughout the novel, AnzaldĂșa seeks support from Chicanos by encouraging them to take pride in their culture. She hopes that by doing this, they can combat the oppressive nature of dominant cultures like that of the United States. She ends on a powerful and hopeful note, which has pushed other minorities, for whom it is not too late, to fight for their language. And
