  • Essay / Are Tesla cars illegal? - 976

Electric cars are trying to cause an uprising. A modern company, Tesla Motors, is bringing the fully electric car to life. Tesla has had great success in recent years designing a vehicle that will impress safety standards. Even if the journey has been quite bumpy for the CEO and founder of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk. Tesla has big plans for the future. However, these plans will not be necessary unless Tesla is allowed to sell its vehicles directly to the consumer and not through dealerships. Tesla vehicles have several interesting features. The Model S, which is Tesla's first sedan, is Consumer Report's "top pick" in the survey. Not only were they the first choice among sedan class vehicles, but they were also the first choice among consumers. This means that in a survey it ranked higher than GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda and many others. (LeBeau, Phillip) That's quite an accomplishment. One of the reasons for its higher picks is the car's high safety rating. The NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given the Tesla Model S a five-star safety rating in every category and subcategory. They would have rated it even higher if they could; unfortunately, the NHTSA rating system only goes up to five. There is another chance for the Model S to get a higher score. The VSS or Vehicle Safety Score, which is the safety score given to manufacturers, gave the Model S a score of 5.4. This score is higher than any vehicle class on the roads today and has the lowest risk of front, side, rear and rollover injuries included. (LeBeau) This car is so incredibly safe that there are reports that the testing equipment breaks before the car itself. Tesla also has a rather controversial sales method...... middle of paper...... The Model S is one of the best choices when it comes to safety. Tesla will be a big automaker once it can sell its vehicles without being banned. Works Cited Jerew, Benji.
