The skills required to hit the ball are very important. Hours of practice are spent on a driving range perfecting a golf swing. There are a lot of things that can go wrong. Leaving the clubface open at impact causes the dreaded slice. A closed face makes the hook of the ball. Looking up before the ball is hit can cause the ball to be missed completely. The complex parts of a smooth golf swing must be perfected in order to become adept at the game. Many amateurs and professionals take lessons year-round to try to overcome weaknesses in their game.
