    At first, people are hesitant to know him because of his character traits and his alleged background. This is evident in myriad scenes, such as when the little girls on the playground run away from him when he first arrives at Wingate Christian School. The teachers at the school presumptuously assume that he is too stupid to succeed before he begins working with his tutor. There is a general consensus among the well-off characters that a black man cannot find the success that the white people have in the film, to which he ends up proving them wrong. Overall, The Blind Side is a unique story of one man's success from the slums of Memphis to the NFL. Michael Oher overcame stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and had to assimilate into an entirely new culture – but he ultimately achieved his goal.
