  • Essay / Illegal immigration costs taxpayers billions!

In an in-depth analysis of the money distributed to illegal immigrants in the United States, it was found that taxpayer money accounts for approximately $100 billion in funding for illegal immigrants. According to FAIR, “the $113 billion in spending on services and benefits provided to illegal aliens and their families represents an average cost of $1,117 per year for native-headed households. Because the burden of illegal immigration is not evenly distributed, costs are much higher in states with large foreign populations” (Fair, 2010). That's way too much money to just give to people who are in the United States illegally. I know that personally, I would rather invest it in my college education, an IRA, Social Security, or paying the bills we've been racking up. So the amount of money spent on illegal immigrants in the United States represents a huge expense to the American. citizens. These amounts are financed by taxes paid by hard-working citizens. Every year, billions of dollars are paid for illegal immigrants in hospitals, public schools, food assistance programs, federal prisons, court costs and deportations. It is appalling how much help illegal immigrants receive as “non-citizens.” This money could be invested in unemployment, Social Security, health care, schools, or any other system that appears to be failing. In fact, because of illegal immigrants attending public schools, people have to pay more and more money, not only to attend them, but also for their meals. “Educating the children of illegal aliens represents the largest public expenditure, with an annual cost of $52 billion. Virtually all of this cost is absorbed by state and local governments” (FAIR, 2005...... middle of article...... acquire adequate education necessary to thrive. References CIS. (2004 , August).
