The after-school program gave students the opportunity to do homework, play games, and interact with friends and positive role models. The program was an alternative for students at risk of engaging in risky behaviors such as drug and alcohol use, committing illegal or violent acts, and engaging in unprotected sex. Parents benefited from the after-school program because they could be sure that their children were in a supervised location from 3 p.m. until they left work.
