Devolution of SocietyNowadays our older generation likes to worry about how easy it is for our younger generation to live in today's society. This would seem to be the case with all new technologies and medical advances. Even though technology has made life easier, there is a price to pay; people are not as happy and human connection has been lost. Life was easier fifty years ago thanks to less pressure, greater respect for family values and better dressed and better behaved teenagers. The pressures of life today are greater than fifty years ago due to our high standard of living, fewer jobs and increased materialism. . Unemployment has continued to rise; people are out of work and struggling to survive. The standard of living rose from $5,000 to $50,000. Today, both parents work 50 to 70 hours a week to make ends meet, without having time to enjoy life. Society has become more materialistic, our needs have increased. Additionally, it was not necessary for both spouses to work to support the household. As a result, parents were more attentive to their children. Besides, people didn't need much to be happy, they were more than happy with their little house and white picket fence. Unfortunately, family values have diminished over time. Today more than ever, families are divided by divorce. Both children and adults have become rude and disrespectful. Families in general moved away and ...... middle of paper ......rt, tight and revealing outfits. Young men wear open shirts and extremely baggy pants that often expose their underwear. Abstinence is very rare; the incidence of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections is higher. Life was easier fifty years ago; it was less complex, less materialistic and more moralistic. People used to live simpler lives, whereas today people are obsessed with who owns the biggest house or the most expensive car. We have increased our needs and made our lives more difficult by working more hours to meet those needs. As a result, we took time away from our families and lost our family values along the way. In today's society, teenagers face a lot of peer pressure to act or try to look a certain way. Today's life may be more convenient thanks to technology, but humanity and relationships have suffered.
