  • Essay / Coming to America - 755

One day my parents talked to my brothers and me about moving to the United States. The idea shocked me and I started thinking about my life in Mexico. Everything I knew – my friends, my family, and my school over the past twenty years – was going to change. My father left first to find a decent job and an apartment. This was a great idea because when we arrived in the US we had no problems. We moved for different reasons, one of them was a better education. Schools in the United States offer many opportunities, such as different degrees, financial aid, scholarships, etc. I think it's a great opportunity for my brothers and I to study here because we will receive a great education. In Mexico we don't have these opportunities; if students want to be in an exemplary school, they have to pay a lot of money. Another reason we moved was because my parents found better jobs. In the United States the economy is better than Mexico, so they thought maybe this change could benefit us. When we arrived we felt strange because we knew everything was going to be new. For example, when we saw our new apartment, we really liked it, but I thought nothing was going to be the same. Afterwards, we felt peaceful because the neighborhood was really nice. What we particularly like is that the shopping center and many restaurants are close to the apartments. So when we want to go shopping or eat something, we can go out and have a good time. Another thing that we really like is that we can have meetings or parties in the apartment grounds; we can invite people over and have fun. Now we feel more comfortable here and enjoy everything there is in the United States. School was a notable change for my brothers and me. We w...... middle of paper ......Mexico. On weekends, I go to Nuevo Laredo or Monterrey to visit them. We plan something like parties or get together, and we talk about our lives. In Laredo, Texas, people are so different, they are more open-minded, I have a different type of ideas or a different education, but I respect other people's thoughts. In conclusion, my recent experience was when my family and I decided to move to the United States. States. It was a huge change to move to another country. Moving to another country gives us the opportunity to experience a different language, meet new people, better jobs and a great education. This experience may have been harmful and difficult for the whole family, but if we moved for a better life, it could be a great opportunity for our future. In summary, now we like living here, my parents have a good job and my brothers and I study in a good school..
