Essay / Essay on HRD - 907
The main objective of interviews with Dr. Rod P. Githens and Ed.D candidate, Joshua C. Collins, is to understand the reasons why they chose this career path; Meanwhile, it was a good opportunity to learn more about their experiences and stories. I also realized that there are many important elements for an academic to succeed in their career, including good preparation, clear communication and thoughtful organization. Many lessons emerge from these two interviews. The following statements will illustrate the most valuable inspiration I gained from them. First of all, I believe that academics have their own definition and understanding of HRD due to their different educational background and disciplines. It is interesting for me to explore the perspectives of the interviewees on this area. Dr. Githens believes that HRD aims to support human potential and skills and meet societal workforce needs with organizational goals (RP Githens, personal communication, March 26, 2014). On the other hand, Mr. Collins considers that HRD is generally more focused on the dominant paradigm that includes productivity and profits in the context of businesses (JCCollins, personal communication, March 25, 2014). However, from my point of view, HRD is a systematic process that helps people acquire new capabilities, understand their values and increase organizational effectiveness in the workplace. Thanks to Mr. Collins' experience, I am able to rethink my previous questions that confused me. most of the time. Before deciding to pursue a doctoral degree, I was concerned about whether the lack of professional experience would influence my studies and research during the HRD doctoral program. Most of the PhD students I met all had...... middle of paper ......good direction and led me on the right path. Finally, it was a great opportunity to conduct interviews with Dr. Githens and Mr. Collins. I was able to reaffirm the motivations and reasons why I want to pursue doctoral studies. With the suggestions of the two great scholars, I have greater confidence in my ability to focus on the important elements of what it takes to succeed as a scholar. The path to becoming an academic is a long one, taking time and the particularly difficult work expected of earning a doctorate; however, it will allow me to see the impact and growth on an individual's development. I look forward to pursuing the next level of my training in human resource development. I believe that the path to becoming a professional academic is a never-ending path and that the most important thing is to continue to learn, reflect and criticize with passion..
