    African American people have an entire month to celebrate their rich history, but what about other ethnic groups that live in America, including Asian Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics? Americans and European-Americans. Why don't these ethnic groups deserve their own month, didn't they play an important role in American history, which makes African Americans so special that they deserve their own month. You could say that African Americans were taken from their homeland, lived in slavery and segregation, which is absolutely true, but that was a long time ago and this country has progressed and adopted laws to end slavery and segregation of African Americans. Even though they left their homeland, Africa, reluctantly, through purchases or trade with their own people, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as America is doing much better than Africa, due to poverty and disease. On the other hand, Native Americans are the ethnic group most deserving of having their own history month. If African Americans think they have had a terrible past, they need to look at the horrible past of Native Americans. Native Americans were the first to populate the American domain, until European Americans began colonizing the land and wiped out almost the entire Native American race, while taking away their entire homeland. That being said, Native Americans only make up a little over 1% of the current population. For example, if one walks into a restaurant and looks around, the chances of seeing a full-blooded Native American family dining together are slim to none. Regardless, all five American ethnic groups have contributed to American society over the years and the fact that only one ethnic group has its own month is absurd and
