Almost half the population of the area on which the bomb was dropped was completely and utterly wiped out. Not only did the atomic bomb kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people, it also devastated an entire country. With the bomb having been dropped on Japan's two industrial cities, Japan entered into total economic and traditional decline. The Japanese economy was devastated, and because the Americans had to step in and help the Japanese economy rebuild, most American values and traditions were incorporated into Japanese culture. The Americans had good intentions when they decided to use the atomic bomb. They just wanted to stop the bloodshed and did what they thought was the right thing to do.
