Essay / Mosquito life cycle - 1332
The insect is a living being from a group of invertebrate animals which has the largest number of species in the world. One of them is the mosquito, known as the bloodsucker. Mosquitoes, or their scientific name is Culicidae, are a family of approximately three thousand five hundred species within the two-winged fly order Diptera. They are most closely related to midges, midges and crane flies and one of the most primitive families of Diptera. Mosquitoes do not settle in places that are permanently frozen. This means that the life of mosquitoes depends on environmental conditions. Mosquitoes take 3 to 10 days to complete their life cycle from eggs to adults. There are four distinct stages in the mosquito life cycle, namely eggs, larvae, pupae and adults (see Figure 1 in the Appendix). First, the life cycle of the mosquito involves laying an egg. Mosquitoes have a multi-stage life cycle that can be divided into two categories: floodwater species and stagnant water species. The life cycle of the mosquito depends on where it laid eggs in the environment. For example, floodwater mosquito species, such as Culex eggs, are laid above the water level as a floating raft, while stagnant water mosquito species, such as Aedes Albopictus, lay their eggs near water. Based on studies by Clements (1992), female mosquitoes lay between 50 and 500 eggs at a time, depositing them on water or flooded sites. Each egg is protected by an eggshell, which in many species is elaborately sculpted. This reproduction occurred in every mosquito life in different subfamilies and tribes. It takes a while for the mosquito's eggs to hatch depending on environmental conditions. Based on the study of Clements (1992), it indicates that within one to two days ...... middle of paper ...... finds the suitable oviposition site for the laid eggs and the larvae hatch in conditions for which they are adapted. In conclusion, different types of mosquitoes have different growth styles. However, it still goes through the same life cycle, from eggs to adults. Works Cited Clements, A., N. (1992).
