  • Essay / Exhibition Design Case Study - 1293

How Modern Design Techniques Are Changing the Exhibition Design IndustryGoals and Objectives:Exhibition design has evolved greatly over the last century. What was once a fairly simple design discipline has become a multidisciplinary field that extends far beyond common practices. With the introduction of new digital techniques, namely 3D modeling programs, CAD software, etc., a new perspective has been brought to the overall design process of exhibition design. This article seeks to explore the benefits of using these new design techniques in combination with traditional techniques. In particular, this case study seeks to address the following topics:1. Establish the benefits of modern exhibition design techniques2. Contribute to a deeper understanding of the exhibition design process3. Identify the characteristics of the design process as they relate to exhibition design. My studies in the FDA program led me to pursue a career in the exhibit design industry. The internship I did at “Clearview Expo” helped reinforce this choice through the experience of client/designer input on a very personal level. I think this is the career path I would like to pursue, as it allows me to fully contribute to the design industry. Upon leaving this course, I intend to sacrifice a few years of internship/work for several exhibition design-oriented companies, in order to gain a wealth of experience and build a substantial portfolio of work. In order to deepen my knowledge of the design discipline that I have chosen. , I decided to write this case study on exhibition design and the design process surrounding it. This is mainly due to the experience of these...... middle of paper ......tching. These programs mentioned above are types of building information modeling (BIM) software. The main advantage of using BIM software is that any changes made in a view are automatically integrated into the entire 3D model. This means that only one change needs to be made, as opposed to having to draw all the associated designs by hand. Once elevations, floor plans and models have been produced, the next step in the design process involves rendering images. Rendering is a term used in the creative industry to describe the visual enhancement of designs. Image renderings make them easier for the client to understand and also make it easier to visually communicate design presentations. Rendering an image essentially adds depth to two-dimensional drawings and makes them appear three-dimensional. These image renderings used to be very detailed depending on the
