Essay / Narrative Essay on Christmas - 811
Christmas is a time, including December 25, when Christians remember the birth of Jesus Christ. I think Christmas is also a season of gifts, joy and family reunions. Many children believe in the tradition that Santa Claus visits them with his special sleigh carried by his magical reindeer who can really fly! Santa only comes when the children behave well. He arrives on Christmas Eve to bring presents to the children. Young people leave carrots for the reindeer, milk and pies for Santa in front of the chimney as he comes down the chimney to deliver his presents. When I was young, Christmas was a time of great joy and happiness. I have always made a bird feeder from the basic materials that were around the house. Two weeks before Christmas, my friends and I went to sing Christmas songs and received treats and sometimes even money. It was like Halloween! I never received any presents at Christmas and, surprisingly, I didn't complain about it. Instead of receiving gifts, my family always helps those in need and those who are less fortunate at Christmas. Our family Christmas Eve was spent at the church service which lasted until midnight. Then we lit fireworks and placed various candles throughout the house to represent that Jesus is the light of the world. On Christmas Day, our whole family gets together; we play games. We eat the special meal that my grandmother and mother have been preparing for days. Later, my grandparents tell different exciting stories about their own childhood experiences. Today, I am convinced that Christmas has lost all meaning because of advertisements and the materialistic nature of society. Harrods launched its Christmas range 138 days before...... middle of paper ...... saddest in this world to wake up on Christmas morning and not be a child. “Christmas is not only a holiday suitable for children, but it is also for adults. For them, Christmas is an opportunity to rediscover the illusion of their childhood. I am glad that there are still different countries that keep Christmas sacred and celebrate it in a traditional way. Unfortunately, I think Christmas in the future will be very different from what we celebrate today. Technology is evolving faster every day. On Christmas Day there can be instant Christmas dinners so no one goes to the kitchen to prepare the meal. There will be very few religious people, churches will close their doors and we will no longer hear festive Christmas carols, nativity scenes and Santa may not even exist in a child's mind. If this were to happen, the world would be poorer.
