Essay / Essay Against Animal Testing - 636
Living ethnically is not only thinking about ourselves, but putting ourselves in the place of other beings who are affected by our action. God created all creatures equally, none is more special than the other. All animal testing is inhumane and immoral and should be banned. Animals have no choice, they are forced to do so and often bred. The reasons are simply that no human being would set out to test new drugs. Proponents of animal testing claim that animal testing should be done in a more humane manner and the laws state that you must test a drug on an animal. animals before humans and there is no doubt about it because it is the law. Thanks to technological advances of this time, animals can experience less pain and suffering (American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, n.d.). This is done by practicing the 4 concepts of replacement, reduction and refinement and rehabilitation. Replacement, also known as comparative substitution, involves replacing living animals with animal cells or tissue culture in an experiment whenever it is possible to achieve the same goals. Reduction is practiced by minimizing the number of animals used in animal testing. Refinement refers to the improvement of procedures aimed at alleviating the potential pain experienced by animals. Rehabilitation is also known as post-treatment care, where researchers are responsible for caring for animals that were used in experiments (National Center for Biotechnology Information, 2013). Nevertheless, the above argument is weak because animal testing is unethical, immoral and the chances of these animals experiencing pain and suffering are very high. Based on a study by the British Union...... middle of article ......r medications would affect the response and results of the experiment (PETA, nd). This causes the animal to experience unbearable pain and suffering and is often left to die in the laboratory (Animal Laid, n.d.). The Hippocratic Oath that no harm or injustice should be inflicted on animals and should be kept within their reach. Animals should never undergo this painful treatment that they do not deserve (Sokol, 2008). Animals deserve to live freely and they also have rights instead of being forced and tortured by human beings. Unfortunately, these poor animals are not able to give consent to be used as test subjects. In conclusion, although it is undeniable that animal testing can find a new cure to save human lives, animal testing should never be done as it is morally wrong and highly unethical. This is proof enough that animal testing should be banned by the government..
