Essay / Sociological Perspectives on Religion - 994
“Religion is a ritualized system of beliefs and practices related to things defined as sacred by an organized community of believers. » (Basirico et al. 379). Religion is an important element in society because it influences the way individuals act and think. This shaped relationships and bonds between families and influenced decisions made in economic and political matters. Religion in general has helped shape a society and governmental structure that will influence how individuals behave under certain governmental structures. Sociologists are interested in religion primarily because religious belief is strongly rooted in the lives of individuals and helps sociologists interpret human actions, expressions, and experiences. Because of its importance in society, sociologists attempt to study religion in depth to explain and understand religions beyond science. Supernatural belief, which is at the heart of religion, cannot be explained by science which relies solely on facts and data. According to Emile Durkheim, religion is made up of three elements: a system of beliefs and practices, a community or church and sacred things common to all religions. Although many people may have thought that sociological studies of religion would undermine a person's faith in their beliefs, in my opinion the sociological perspective of religion will have no effect on a person's faith in their beliefs. beliefs. Religion may have influenced the way an individual, society, and government act, but sociological studies of religion have no effect on faith. Scientists believe that religion is just a psychological effect. There is no proof of the existence of God and no scientific explanation about shamanism which revolves around the middle of a paper...... Another fact is that although sociology and science continue to s questioning the existence of supernatural power, the practice of one's religion is still deeply rooted in society. This proves that sociology and science do not influence faith. Additionally, sociology plays a neutral role in religion because sociologists view religion as an element of culture that must be preserved without eliminating or modifying it. Therefore, he does not seek to undermine or strengthen the faith. Furthermore, scientists have also come to believe that supernatural power somehow exists in society because they have invented equipment used to explain supernatural phenomena. This means that science has tried to adapt and accept that religion is an important scientific study. Therefore, science and sociology have a neutral role in influencing people's faith..
