Optogenetics is a relatively new technological field, first described in 2005 [1, 2]. This technology has advanced rapidly since its first mention and continues to advance at a rapid pace [1]. Although this is a new technology, it is considered to have opened new areas of biology for investigation [2]. Optogenetics combines different technological aspects from the fields of optics, genetics and bioengineering to enable new ways of studying intact neural circuits [3]. Thanks to optics, this technology makes it possible to study certain neurons in an area without compromising the neurons surrounding them and “at high temporal and spatial resolution” [1]. Without disruption of the neurons surrounding the subjects studied, the biological system as a whole does not cease to exist. The combination of light to control and imaging of targets selected by genetic technologies allows no disruption of surrounding cells and tissues [2, 3]. By directing light at targeted cells, which are sensitive to light, researchers can induce changes in the cell membrane and still achieve this result.....
