  • Essay / The Importance of Species Endangerment - 1649

IntroductionMore and more species are threatened every day and around 6,000 are already endangered. Species loss poses major problems in our ecosystems and biosphere, as well as many other major problems that few people realize and/or do nothing to change. Although there are many causes of extinction, the impact of habitat loss is the main reason why animals become endangered and it is entirely our fault, with habitats being exploited for consumption human. Why is extinction important? Merriam-Webster defines extinction as the state or situation that results from the complete disappearance of a plant or animal species, for example. Below is a table from National Geographic that details the classifications of endangered and extinct animals. Interdependence of Species All living things are part of a complex and delicately balanced network called the biosphere. A biosphere is basically the sum of all life on earth, or all ecosystems. It is the global ecological system in which all living things interact with each other in an interdependent manner. This makes protecting endangered species all the more important, because the removal of one species can start a chain reaction that will spread through the ecosystem. This means that often when an animal disappears, its absence inevitably affects other living organisms. The food web below shows the importance of a single species and highlights the interdependence that exists in an ecosystem. Imagine if the rabbit disappeared? The web would no longer be functional. Food webs are great at showing that all species are energetic: we have plants that are producers, animals that are consumers, and at the top of the food web are usually larger animals called predators. All are very necessary... middle of paper ... toxic pollutants from spreading in our oceans. 83.2% of their money goes to conservation projects. The Sierra Club: The Sierra Club reaches out to people to help promote clean air, water conservation, toxic waste elimination and other processes necessary for this planet and all its animals . The list of endangered animals, provided by many conservation organizations, continues to grow every day. In our world obsessed with expansion and profit, other species no longer have a place to live in their natural habitat and very frequently disappear abnormally. We face the loss of biodiversity, the most profitable business if we allow these animals to continue to disappear, as well as the destruction of many fragile networks and ecosystems. Listed above are organizations that need volunteers and donations to stop the current wave of extinction. Do you want to help?
