Professional societies have overtaken nine-year-old sports clubs and small local businesses. They sponsor athletes, celebrities and sometimes even break up. They do everything they can to make their business work. The only problem is that businesses are now expanding beyond the entertainment area and are now entering our school systems. Schools are now risking the education of their students in commercial ventures in order to secure financial aid for their programs. We see advertisements like "Pepsi" or "Coca-Cola" all over high school sports uniforms as well as on school grounds, and there are "Gatorade" vending machines on every corner of every hallway. These sponsorships may seem useful, but in reality they are just a scam that has infiltrated education systems. Although corporate sponsorships have many positive benefits, they represent a greater burden on a high school program due to their educational and environmental pressure. After purchasing textbooks and other teaching materials, many schools do not have enough luxuries like fine arts programs, clubs. , or field trips. It is not fair that students are deprived of many extracurricular activities because their school system cannot afford them. Corporate sponsorships can help ease the financial burden by providing money in exchange for advertising so students can receive as many offers as any other high school. Extra money provided by a partner company can also help students enrolling in college-level courses like AP or Honors. These classes are not cheap and school systems have to foot the bill along with all the other necessities. There will also be money for better fast food and fast food contracts as students are offered poor food and nutrition choices. This is just another factor that adds to the alarming rates of childhood obesity here in America. Although corporate sponsorships can bring many positive benefits to a school, many risks exist. Student education is the most important factor and it should not be distracted by any financial venture. It’s not fair for students to even lose the right to name their school. Instead of looking for sponsorships, schools should look into more fundraising. There are many things a school can do to raise funds, such as tailgates, fashion shows, or plays. They might even start selling more at games and concerts. Including students in something that benefits them is a much better idea than risking their education..
