  • Essay / Turning Points in Life - 1147

Everyone experiences what we call a “turning point” in life. In other words, your current path is changed by a single event or moment. This change can be as simple as moving to a new city or changing your personality. Two of my most significant positive “turning points” are attributed to things that happened when I was in my early twenties; meet my husband and become a teacher. When applying Brofenbrenner’s ecological systems theory; by focusing on broad, interconnected influences on human development (Mossler, 2013 Sec. 2.6) and these events, it greatly expands the realization of how I became the person I am today. Meeting My Husband Growing up wasn't easy in my house; it wasn't a perfect life, far from it. Over the years, I became the caretaker rather than the child; Often left to my own devices and my brothers, I went through many life lessons without any guidance. After graduation, although I was accepted to the university, I was told that I would not be able to attend due to financial difficulties. Very soon after this news, I broke up with my high school boyfriend of almost four years. I spent the next two years being a very different person. I started smoking, drinking, staying out until all hours and I was really depressed. Everything changed the day my brother threw a house party.MicrosystemOne thing I've never broken the rule on is drunk driving. This meant that that night the majority of people stayed home that night. One by one they all woke up and left except one person who continued to sleep on our couch. He would wake up soon, decide to go out on the terrace and say hello to me, and we would get married two years later. This watch... middle of paper... should be on their agenda. For me, the library is almost as good as Disney Land for a child. While I'm sure there's a lot to learn, I know I could do this job and be great at it. However, my application is one of many that sits in an email box to be reviewed and most likely rejected due to my lack of education. Nowadays, all people see is what is written on a piece of paper. This alone is the motivation I need to graduate and the reason I am here. Overall, many people have impacted my life, both big and small. I have a wonderful husband who supports me in everything I do and I have had the opportunity to realize and change a dream that was once out of reach. Becoming that shining star on a piece of paper received in an email is my next goal, my next turning point, and I will get there.
