  • Essay / Violence Prevention Act - 901

This bill will establish a stricter background check law that will primarily focus on making firearms available to teenagers, felons, and mentally ill. It also increases the standards that limit the population eligible to own a gun. Congress hereby finds and declares that the gun control laws of the United States have little effect and allow citizens to carry their own weapons, which has made the United States in the the most violent country in the world. Gun violence is a serious problem, particularly in the city of Oakland, California. In some areas, residents do not dare leave their homes after sunset because they are afraid of being another victim of the exchange of fire. In places like Boston and Minneapolis, more than 50% of gun crimes are committed by young people aged almost 18. Additionally, the lack of background checks for people with mental health issues leads to the deaths of many innocent people. Recently, Congress authorized state law to dominate gun reinstatement for felons. Because many of them want their guns back right after parole, the state government has become slow in the process. Some criminals return to their old habits of committing crimes when they reclaim their gun. Today's gun control laws are not strong enough to keep American citizens safe, and they have loopholes that allow those who are not eligible to own a gun to get their hands on a gun. on a weapon. To reduce violence, a stricter background check system must be put in place to limit people's ability to own a gun and to close these flaws. Oakland tops the list of the most dangerous cities in California and is considered the most violent city in the entire state. .
